Parents - Attendance
Attendance at school is vital to the long term development of our children, both academically but also socially.
When kids miss school, not only is their academic progress impeded, forcing them to catch up on missed work (which some never do), they often miss important interactions with their peers which can compound issues of social isolation and low self-esteem.
On those occasion where your child is running late or unable to attend school, Education regulations require a reason for all absences and late arrivals. Pinjarra Primary School uses the Department of Education SMS Message system 'Spacetalk Outreach' to parents. This notifies parents of student absences daily. Parents are asked to respond to this message via text with student name, date and reason so attendance records can be updated. Alternatively parents may ring first thing in the morning to notify the school and teacher of an absence, or via a note to the class teacher once your child resumes school.
When children are late to school it not only interferes with their education it also disrupts the learning of others and the work of teachers and staff. To be well prepared for the day students should arrive from 8:30am and be organised and settled in class for an 8:49am start. Teachers are in classrooms from 8:30am to greet students and prepare for the day.
