Learning - Music
Pinjarra Primary School’s classroom music specialist programme (Year 1-Year 6) develops an appreciation for music though exposure to as much music as possible including explicit learning of musical vocabulary, singing, listening and basic musical theory.
Musical skills are encouraged and taught through recorder and ukulele playing.
A choir of students from Years 4-6 performs at assemblies and the WAGSMS concert at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre each year, as well as the Murray Shire’s Christmas Carols Concert. They also sing at some community organisations occasionally. Over the last few years the choir has numbered at well over 80 students.
Students in Year 6 who show an aptitude for music are offered places in the School of Instrumental Music (SIM) instrument lessons. Instruments on offer are flute, clarinet and trumpet. Teachers from SIM visit the school once a week.
