Learning - LOTE - Indonesian

At Pinjarra Primary School, students from Year 1 to 6 are provided with the opportunity to learn the Indonesian language and culture. The language program has been running successfully by experienced and dedicated language teachers at our school for more than ten years.

Through participation and engagement in the learning of Indonesian (and other) language and culture, students improve:

  • Understandings of other cultures and recognise the similarities and differences of their own social and cultural practices;
  • Literacy skills through comparing the similarities and differences between English and other languages.

Learning a language in Primary school provides students with a solid foundation for continuing their language and cultural education in High school.

For more information about the LOTE curriculum and benefits of LOTE please visit the Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA).

“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart” – Nelson Mandela.
